The Salzlager is the location for the really big events: theatre, concert, dance, company anniversary, convention or conference - this listed hall offers more than enough space for all of these and much more, and comes with all the necessary event equipment. The main hall is complemented by the spacious foyer in the salt factory with its striking round bar and the adjoining lounge with a spectacular view of the industrial backdrop of Kokerei Hansa.
Salzlager of Kokerei Hansa in Dortmund is now an impressive event location that combines unique historical charm with modern use. Originally, the salt warehouse was part of the large-scale industrial plant of Kokerei Hansa, which began operations in 1928 and played a central role in coal processing for many decades. In the coking plant, large quantities of coal were processed into coke, which was essential for steel production. Various chemicals were also produced as by-products, including ammonia and tar, which were further processed. The salt store was used to store salts used in chemical processing.
With the closure of the coking plant in 1992, industrial operations came to an end and the site initially fell into disrepair. However, thanks to extensive renovation work by the Industrial Heritage Foundation, the salt warehouse is now a stylish location for events and is used for functions such as graduation balls, company parties and weddings. The raw industrial charm, combined with modern event design, makes the Salzlager a sought-after event location in Dortmund, which impressively reflects the history of the Ruhr region and at the same time offers space for new experiences.
