The Malakoffturm of Prosper colliery towers defiantly over the Ruhr region. Built in 1875, it now offers space for parties, celebrations and events in a very special setting. Here, the past joins in the celebrations, as the inside of the tower is still adorned with the pithead frame.
The Malakoffturm in Bottrop is a striking industrial monument and an important part of the Ruhr region's mining history. It was built in 1875 as a shaft winding tower for the Prosper I colliery and is one of the few remaining towers of this type in Germany. The tower is named after the Malakoffturm, a fortress that became famous during the Crimean War, and was a typical construction type for early winding towers in Ruhr mining. It was used to convey coal from the shaft and was a central component of coal production in Bottrop for a long time.
After the closure of the colliery, the Malakoffturm was placed under a preservation order and extensively restored. Today, it is a popular event location that combines the industrial charm of days gone by with a modern usage concept. The tower offers an impressive backdrop for events such as exhibitions, corporate events and cultural events. Its historical ambience, combined with modern facilities, makes it a unique location for special occasions and events.
