about

die dinner&co group

From its humble beginnings in 1997 to the brand that dinner&co is today, it has been a long journey – yet it feels like it flew by in no time …

1997

Our foundation

dinner&co started out in 1997 as a pure catering company and quickly developed into one of the top addresses in NRW's culinary landscape: the team's high quality standards and excellent service were met with enthusiasm. After only a short time, dinner&co was able to count numerous private individuals, companies and institutions from the worlds of culture and business among its regular customers.

2021

5 Days

In 2021, the dinner&co family will receive its first “addition”: the 5 Days lunch restaurant at the Phönix West location in Dortmund Hörde. Other major projects are already on the horizon: The Hansa coking plant wants to make its buildings - true gems of industrial culture - accessible to a wider public and is looking for a culinary manager. However, it will be another three years before that happens.

2024

The journey to the Hansa coking plant

In spring 2024, dinner&co will have a new home at the Hansa coking plant, moving its company headquarters and production facility into the former anthracene oil plant. Next door, in the coking plant's former gas freezer, two spectacular gastronomy concepts will celebrate their reopening.

SchwarzGold

At the same location, just one floor below, SchwarzGold comes to life in the evening. Shortly after its launch, this project caused a stir in the national gastronomy scene with its star-studded cuisine.

But that's not all: all other event locations at the Hansa coking plant - the salt warehouse, the washhouse and the compressor hall - have also been exclusively catered for by dinner&co since then - as have other industrial heritage locations in Bottrop, Witten-Herdecke, Gladbeck and Herne.
Several brands, many locations, growth at every turn: this new orientation is also reflected in the name. dinner&co becomes the dinner&co group, under whose umbrella the various brands find their home.

sascha nies

Sascha Nies is a Dortmund native and a passionate restaurateur – from the very beginning.
At just 19 years old, he took the leap into the cold waters of entrepreneurship and founded dinner&co in 1997. Since then, he has impressed his guests with a combination of exceptionally good food, outstanding attention to detail in service, and a spirit of partnership. The concept has been a success, as evidenced by the many loyal customers who have stayed with Sascha Nies and his team for years.

In addition to his role as Managing Director of the dinner&co group and its companies, he is socially and locally involved as a member of the Lions Club Dortmund-Rothe Erde. He is also a member of the Westphalian Industrial Club Dortmund e.V. and the German Association of Young Entrepreneurs (BJU).
